        Life is more and more like a gambling game, as some people claimed. They loiter and dally every day, never expecting to make any difference with their own strength. Believing in lottery wealth, or quickly-rising fame, they don’t think the choices they make will change their destined fate. When faced with predicaments and adversities, we may be tempted to agree on their belief. Nevertheless, this notion is somewhat specious as far as I’m concerned.
　　I concede in this world there is certainly something that we can hardly avoid, yet the choices we make do have a more poignant impact on our present living condition and our future. When we are struggling to achieve our goals, some temporary setbacks may hinder our way. However, each time we choose to move on, we obtain experience. Each time we make a choice, we get closer to our wonderland.
　　When I was in grade one in high school, things didn’t go smoothly as I had expected. I tried to accommodate myself to the new school and new classmates. Yet those attempts somehow seemed to be in vain. As a result, the first term exam result left me despondent and vulnerable. I shut myself in the room and dare not face the reality.
　　 My mother sensed my sorrow and came to me. I was so perplexed that I poured out all my problems. I told her that I tried hard but still failed to progress. “Perhaps what I do won’t change anything about my life. Human beings do have limits, right?” I murmured. Looking into my eyes, Mom responded: “Everybody does have limits. Yet the choices you make and the way you take will influence your life profoundly. As you know, ”Rome is not built in a day. Life is a course of accumulating, as is study. If you choose to follow your dreams instead of avoiding hardships, you’ll make improvements some day.“
　　Enlightened by her words, I rebuilt confidence and improved my studying methods. As days went by, my grades became higher. I am definitely grateful that I chose to hold on, or life would be different now.
　　Now I come to believe that life is the result of the choices we make. The choices we make can influence our life to such extent that we can change our fate eventually.
